A drink a day keeps erectile dysfuction at bay
London. The perils of brewer's Droop are well known, but now
scientists say men who drink moderately have fewer erectile problems
than teetotallers. The survey of nearly 1,600 Australian men by the
Keogh Institute for medical Research found men who had a regular, but
not excessive tipple, reported 30 percent fewer problems than those
who never imbibed. Men who drank an average of 20 units of alcohol a
week (a unit in a half pint of beer or a small glass of wine)
performed the best. Those at greatest risk of the dreaded Droop were
former heavy drinkers who had given up all together, and men who
smoke, the Institute said. Meanwhile another survey suggests men who
were sexually active in their 20s run a higher risk of developing
prostate cancer later in life. UK researchers blamed higher hormone
levels for the link.
