Democratic Party (DP) National Chairman Christopher Mtikila.
He told journalists yesterday in Dar es Salaam that as the country
is heading towards the General Election, there are more violations of
regulations and rules being made by the aspirants. “The country needs a President who abides by leadership ethics and constitution,” he said.
According to him, some CCM presidential aspirants have lost the
very basic of qualifications because they conducted their campaigns
prematurely.
“I will take them to court...” he asserted and warned that “...there will be no legal election if there will be breach of laws.”
“There are CCM members who have violated the law despite the
election law being very clear…this is among the things that disgusted us
and we choose to take action against them…they have not only breached
the country’s law but also the CCM constitution” he added.
Mtikila mentioned the names of the aspirants who have violated the
regulations as William Ngeleja (former Minister for Energy and Mineral),
Stephen Wassira (Minister for Agriculture Food security and
cooperative), Bernard Membe (Minister for Foreign affairs) and Edward
Lowassa (former Prime Minister).
Others are Fredrick Sumaye (former Prime Minister) and January
Makamba (deputy minister for Communication Science and Technology,
saying that they are not above the law so they should be punished by
their political party and National Electoral Commission (NEC).
“I have talked to NEC, they assured me that if the CCM party will
pass any of those names, then I can forward my objection in court,” he
said.
“I do believe God will lead the followers of DP to choose the
right person for vying the position… I will be among the aspirants
because I have no money to bribe the people but I have the
qualifications needed,” summed up the opposition Democratic Party (DP)
National Chairman.
