VYAKULA VILIVYOSHAMIRI VIRUTUBISHO SAWIA

COMPLEMENTS OF LIVEHEALTHCLUB. - 21/3/2010.

1. Berries - Matunda Pori.

All berries are low in sugar and high in fiber. Blueberries have been shown to increase memory in lab studies, and raspberries and strawberries are loaded with ellagic acid, a powerful antioxidant that seems to have some anti-cancer properties, according to the American Cancer Society.

2. Beans - MAHARAGE

Beans are extremely high in fiber, which helps to control weight, prevent or manage diabetes and blood sugar, and may help prevent colon cancer and protect against heart disease. The National Institute of Medicine recommends 25-38 grams of fiber a day. The average American gets only 4-11 grams. One cup of beans provides 11-17 grams.

3. Nuts - HAINA TAFSIRI YA KISWAHILI ! Kila "nut" ina jina lake, kwa mfano, Nazi, Korosho, Karanga, n.k.

Some of the largest and most important long-term studies of diet and health have shown that eating nuts several times a week is consistent with ....

BENEFICIAL RASPBERRIES !

1. Are a good source of vitamin C and fiber.
2. Provide folate, vitamins B2 and B3, magnesium and other essential nutrients.
3. Contain ellagitannins, natural health-protective compounds that appear to have potent anti-cancer activity.
4. Have considerable antioxidant potential (50% more than strawberries).

Wonder Twins Head For High School Aged Nine
From SKYNEWS, 1 March, 2010.

WHAT IS EVEN MORE AMAZING, THESE CHILDREN ARE OF AFRICAN DESCENT AND ARE LIVING IN A CHALLENGING AND DIFFICULT ENVIRONMENT.

Paula and Peter Imafidon, from Waltham Forest, London, amazed parents and teachers when they passed an A-level maths exam at the age of seven.

The twins have been waiting to find out which secondary school they will attend, along with thousands of other youngsters - who are two years older - across the country.

Peter and Paula, who attend a state primary in London, were helped by their three older brothers and sisters, all of whom were also child prodigies.

Their father Chris said he was thrilled by his childen's achievements at school.

He denied any particular genius in the family, crediting their success to the Excellence in Education programme for inner city children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

"Every child is a genius," he said. "Once you identify the talent of a child and put them in the environment that will nurture that talent then the sky is the limit.

"Look at Tiger Woods, or the Williams sisters - they were nurtured.

"You can never rule anything out with them, the competition between the two of them makes them excel in anything they do.

"They are forever competing and fighting, even if it's just for the remote control or the computer."

Paula hopes to become a maths teacher, while Peter hopes to become Prime Minister one day.

HABARI YA MAENDELEO YANGU KATIKA MASOMO YA UZAMIVU

Kwa kweli kila jambo hupangwa na Mungu.

Daily Tip for insight into some of Dr. Weil's favorite foods, courtesy of Dr. Weil on Healthy Aging!

They often get a bad rap for causing indigestion and flatulence, but the health benefits of beans (and other legumes, such as lentils and chickpeas) make them a stellar choice in a healthful diet. Beans are:

1. An excellent source of vegetarian protein, providing six to seven grams per ½ cup serving.
2. High in folic acid, which may help to protect against cancers of the lung, colon, and cervix, and prevent birth defects.
3. A great source of fiber, dishing up 25-30% of the Daily Value of dietary fiber, 75% of which is insoluble - the type that reduces the risk of colon cancer.
4. A low-glycemic-index food, making them a good option for diabetics.

In addition, most varieties are inexpensive and versatile. I recommend 1-2 servings of beans and legumes per day - easy to do if you swap out meat for beans in salads and sandwiches, and make hummus or bean dip part of an afternoon snack. And if stomach upset is a concern, you can improve the quality and digestibility of beans by consuming them with grains such as brown rice, which provide a complimentary protein profile. Discarding the soaking and cooking water when using dry beans may also help reduce flatulence.
